Hey Dwight,

Great article. The other thing that David is teaching his daughter is how to be a producer of information and not just a consumer. I think there are a lot of valuable lessons in what may seem like a very simple act.

A thank you to Tynisha Thompson of BookSavvyMedia.com for leading me here from the interview you did with her back in Jan '08, Dwight.

Whether big or small, there is no need for "fencing" your clients. In any industry, brand loyalty follows with consistent product and service quality.

The multicultural personal care market is still in its fledgling stages, though.

And this, despite black women being the biggest spenders - year over year - in the hair care market alone!

Having approached product manufacturers like Oyin Handmade about offering an "autoship" option (if only out of my sheer laziness to not want to click a few buttons on a web site every other month), it seems that smaller firms are not ready for that just yet.

Bigger black-owned manufacturers like Dudley's, however, are taking on different selling strategies that will help strengthen its brand with our community. Did anyone else know that they were into network marketing?!

Then, you have organizations like BOBSA...

http://www.bobsaone.org/home.php

...who support Black owned beauty supply stores around the world.

It's a long time coming, but it's coming.

Wow this is an excellent post! I know our children will sooner or later have health problems because of modern way of life, but if you can teach your child something than making money on internet is surely extremely worth.

Imagine how experienced she will become after 10 years! And even if she does it a few hours a week - instead of watching TV!

This is a great investment!

If it's any consolation to you, I haven't posted my February Newsletter yet; and today is Friday February 22, 2008. I'm also rejoicing with you that your blog has grown to the point where you are missed when you don't show up. What a blessing! -Further evidence of the truth that persistence pays.
Just think Dwight you could be stuck in a 9-5 (or an 8-faint) and not have the privilege to be there for your daughter and family.
Not only do I wish all the best for you and your family, I especially trust that all will be well with your daughter.

It's going to be a long time coming before we can take back the black dollars from the Koreans. We spend most of our money with other races before we will our own. We complain about the service that Black Business give us, but the Koreans and Chinese can talk about us in their native tongue, not crack a smile at us when we walk through the door, you name it they do it but we accept it. Go into a black business and the cashier seems like she has an attitude, it's almost time to fight!! We have to change our mindset. How do we do that?

Why reinvent the wheel? Learning from others, makes your goal of success concrete. If it could happen to them then it can happen to me also. It's the best way to learn to benchmark others practices. Thanks for the post.

Do you know about the Young Entrepreneur Society from the www.YoungEntrepreneurSociety.com? I would like to tell you that it is an entertaining way to learn entrepreneurship.
