eCommerce Success Story - Regina Baker

May 4th, 2009

Regina BakerRegina Baker is a computer geek at heart.  She loves everything about computers, how they operate as they do and the limitless opportunities with software applications.

Her background is in Procurement and Information Technology as the Y2K Specialist for one of the oldest chemical and polymers companies in the United States.

After being laid off due to downsizing and even through the passing of her husband Ruben to cancer in 2002, Regina has learned to rely and trust in the wisdom and will of God. Regina says, “I knew there was something for me to continue to live for, to empower others and to have a profound affect in giving instead of just receiving.”

Having various roles in computer technology led her to where she is today as the Co-Founder of Wahmcart.com, a full ecommerce software solution for work at home moms as well as the small business community.

When my partner and I first talked about Wahmcart, we wanted to provide a full ecommerce software solution for work at home moms BUT without the huge price tag. Our goal was, and is, to reach the masses with our full ecommerce solution as opposed to only those who can afford a high ticket service comparable to what we offer.

“We believe that small business dominate a large portion of the market place however, a huge percentage of small businesses miss the opportunity to provide a secure environment like Wahmcart due to the lack of funds. Therefore they settle for free carts and not as secure or easy shopping options for potential customers.

This is why Wahmcart was born. Our goal is to educate the small business individual (sole proprietors) and companies with ecommerce solutions that will allow them to work smarter, not harder while at the same time providing an affordable solution that the “average” person can afford.

In doing so, I made it a point to become a Certified Business Coach.  In this role, I’m able to coach individuals on the importance of a suitable ecommerce software solution for their business while answering questions concerning internet and affiliate marketing in a easy to understand language.

Regina’s Success Tips:

1. “Every worthwhile accomplishment has a price tag attached to it.  The question is always whether you are willing to pay the price to attain it - in hard work, sacrifice, patience, faith and edurance.”  John Maxwell

2. Don’t limit God’s ability to do by your capacity to receive.”  With an open mind, willing heart, and positive attitude, YOU CAN achieve anything you want for your life!

3.  “People do not care how much you know until they know how much you care.” John Maxwell

Learn Quickly or Get Out of the Way

January 8th, 2009

I was recently reading David Bullock’s blog and he posted this video which absolutely drives home the benefits of the Black Genius Network in my opinion.

The video describes how quickly information is changing the world and how overwhelming all the change can be. David titled his post  “Lead Or Get Out Of The Way” but I see it differently. I say “Learn quickly or get out of the way”.

This video drives home the need to learn quickly and the best way to learn quickly is from each other. If your goal is to have a successful life, you can’t use the old ways of learning. You have to learn success strategies and tactics quickly from people that are using those tactics successfully today. That’s what learning quickly means to me. Learn from each other, don’t assume that the success skills you have or had will still work. Join the Black Genius Network snd discover new success strategies, tactics and skill quickly.

Check out the video and tell me what you think and discover the secrets to success from entrepreneur John Lawson

3 Keys to Success From John Lawson… Ebay Entrepreneur

January 5th, 2009

I learn so much from these interviews and when we get near the end my standard questions is “What are the 3 Most Important Factors in Your Success. My goal in asking that question is to draw out the strategies that successful black business people use.

John’s 3 Keys to Success where; (here my interview with Black Genius John Lawson)

  1. You must have Integrity.
  2. You have to take action
  3. You have to believe.

Success leaves clues and John gave us specific instructions for being successful. When John talks about having integrity he means that successful people have a value system, that they are consistent and can be trusted, their word has meaning (as best as possible). John is also absoultely right when he says you have to take action. There is an old African proverb “If you want to eat, you must move your feet”, moving your feet is taking action. All results start with some action.

Lastly John says “You gotta believe”. When you get on a plane, can the pilot see the destination? No, he has a detailed plan, he takes action (flying the plane) and he believes (yes knows( that if he follows the plan he will arrive at his destination just like thousand of other planes and pilots. Success is the same, you may not see the destination but if you follow the plan, they keys to success outlined by John, than success is inevitable.

An Epic Struggle - The Fight to be President of the United States…..

March 6th, 2008

I don’t know about you but win, lose or draw, the fight to become president waged by Barack Obama is an epic. What it is demonstrating to me is what it takes to create greatness in your life and what you have to do to achieve greatness. I have followed and supported Barack’s campaign from the beginning and watched him move past almost every obstacle. When evil forces insinuated that he was a Muslim spy (ok hyperbole), he walked calmly through and fought the rumors. When they tried to link him to Saddam, he fought thru that. When Mrs Clinton and others insinuated that he is to inexperienced to be president he is walking through that. It’s amazing to see this fan fight thru all of these obstacles to get what he wants.

Well, what this is doing for me is demonstrating what it takes to achieve greatness. This man is grinding, taking every arrow, raising money, fielding an organization in every state, speaking daily, trying to deal with the media, the republicans, the conservatives, the women, the skeptical black people, my good.

So here is my point, my hat’s off to Barack Obama, my hats off for having the heart for President, for setting the bar high for brothers, for being a good dad and husband and an inspiration to me.

In my life I’m striving to achieve greatness and the arrows and obstacles are coming, I need to do like Barack “keep on pushing” towards my goal.

What are assets?

February 27th, 2008

Another confusing financial term, assets. Actually assets are the building blocks of wealth. Remember, we decided to define wealth as the length of time we can maintain our lifestyle without generating income. (btw, this is not my definition, this definition came from a very famous thinker and entrepreneur Buckminster Fuller. According to Buckminster Fuller, regaining time defines wealth. I agree because you can’t buy time).

So, how do you maintain your lifestyle without having to generate income. How do you buy back your time. Well one way is to create and invest in assets that produce cash. The idea is to work once to buy or create an asset and then use the cashflow to buy your time back, effectively creating wealth.

Think bout this idea. You buy or create an asset once, and it provides you income forever. Thats how you create wealth.

The Sub Prime Mortgage Mess and Black Wealth (Hoodwinked and Bamboozled)

February 22nd, 2008

Here we go again. Our lack of financial savvy and education is costing us billions, yes billions of dollars. Here is a quote I just read from the News Observer website

“As we spend this month celebrating the achievements of African-Americans, I’m saddened by a report that concludes that the subprime mortgage crisis has caused the largest loss of wealth in modern U.S. history for black and Latino homeowners. The erosion of wealth is staggering. Subprime borrowers of color will lose $164 billion to $213 billion because of loans taken during the past eight years”

Now I normally never use profanity but the question that needs to be asked is What the hell happened? How did we end up in this mess again. Here is another quote from the same article; “Before any of you fix your lips to place all the blame on the homeowners, consider one thing. Just remember that this loss of wealth came largely as a result of lenders and others in the mortgage industry who took advantage of people trying to achieve the American dream of homeownership.”

Again, we are taken advantage of, again in this case lenders hoodwinked us out of one of the best ways to build wealth in America. I ask again, What the hell happened?

Well if you think critically what happened again was since we don’t understand wealth we where hoodwinked, thats what happened.

So the question is How can we fix this damned problem? How can we ensure that we aren’t cheated again, taken advantage of again. How can we fix it.

We fix it with a very unpopular word. Education, specifically Financial Education and an understanding of wealth and wealth building. I am committed to learning more about building wealth and teaching what I learn. Join me.

BTW
Just to make sure everyone understands, we aren’t the only folks hoodwinked and bamboozled. There are alot of people caught in this mess. It’s just that in this country of entrepreneurship and wealth accumulation, we don’t teach anything about money, wealth or entrepreneurship in school, so most Americans are financially literate.

BTW
Thanks to everyone that sent me email regarding my daughter. She is 36 and has a great family (two kids and a great husband). She has cancer. It is hard to say those words. I am scared and sad because I haven’t always been proud of my fathering experience, but I love her and pray everyday for her recovery.

Thanks for your prayers
